This Is An Abandoned Effort

I'm just a terrible blogger. Point in fact, there's really not much I find 'bloggable' in my day-to-day life. So, here is where I lurk:

Jesus Christ Superstar

I remember watching that movie as a child, and that's probably why I didn't hate Andrew Lloyd Webber as much as my friend Tim :P
Anywhoselbees... I just found out that a remake of the original film/play is set for release in 2014 and I got a little excited, I'm not going to lie :) - So that's why I'm going to drop off a couple of my favorite songs:

Jesus casts out the money chasers in the Temple, and Judas isn't exactly happy with what he witnesses...

And Judas is both angry with and scared for his friend, as well as the lives of himself and the other apostles.

Don't Ask, Don't Tell

I was reading the latest articles on Yahoo! News and saw that as of 12:01 a.m., Sept. 20th, 2011, the 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy has been officially repealed. I kept hearing about how unjust the policy was when all I saw for gays and lesbians was a foot in the door. To be honest, I think that if DADT hadn't been put into effect then the military would be today right where it was thirty years ago. At least DADT brought the propaganda all together into one solid structure (DADT) to be broken as one piece instead of fighting a regulation octopus. Have you ever tried to fight an octopus? Neither have I, but I've seen enough Nat Geo to know that it's not something I'd recommend, even to Bear Grylls...
So like it, hate it, doesn't really matter at this point - what's done is done. But I thought I'd share a bit of American history today.
In 1778, Lieut. Frederick Gotthold Enslin was the first American soldier (though in actual fact he was Dutch) to be dishonorably discharged from the army for Sodomy. He served under General George Washington via Colonel William Malcolm's regiment. Enslin had been accused by Ensign Anthony Maxwell of attempted sodomy before, but he was previously acquitted of those crimes as they had been viewed as "propagating scandalous report prejudicial to the character of Lieut. Enslin." It was George Washington's report that finally brought him to a court-martial. According to General Washington's report: "...Lieutt. Enslin of Colo. Malcolm's Regiment tried for attempting to commit sodomy ..." Washington's secretary continues to describe the results of the trial: "His Excellency the Commander in Chief approves the sentence and with Abhorrence & Detestation of such Infamous Crimes orders Lieut. Enslin to be drummed out of Camp tomorrow morning...."
The diary of Lieut. James McMichael records the sentence being carried out on 15 Mar 1778: "March 15. — I this morning proceeded to the grand parade, where I was a spectator to the drumming out of Lieut. Enslin of Col. Malcom's regiment. He was first drum'd from right to left of the parade, thence to the left wing of the army; from that to the centre, and lastly transported over the Schuylkill with orders never to be seen in Camp in the future. This shocking scene was performed by all the drums and fifes in the army— the coat of the delinquent was turned wrong side out."

It's A Sunny Day By Toluca Lake!

I just read that not only will Silent Hill 2 be receiving new voice-overs (by talented actors such as the incredibly awesome Troy Baker aka Snow from FF XIII!) but Silent Hill 3 will also be receiving an audio overhaul for the Silent Hill HD Collection hitting the PS3 this year.

Yes, I remember the very first time that I played a Silent Hill game. It was the winter of 2002, and I'd finally rented Silent Hill 2 after passing it a few times. And then I only played fifteen minutes of it as it was too confusing for my 13-year-old brain to grasp. I mean, the motion controls sucked, I was just running forever with nothing to do...

And then the following autumn season I played Silent Hill 3. It. Was. Amazing. Ridiculously scary, but that much better for it. After watching Claudia swallow a whole twitching fetus and slaughtering the cult God, I revisited Silent Hill 2, now that I had a better grasp of what was expected of me during gameplay as far as finding out where to do.

If I'd thought that SH3 was scary, I was in for a rude awakening; SH2 had some real wicked frights in store for me.

And then fast-forward a year later, I played SH4, and loved it. It struck me as odd that there were no bosses, but the storyline was still top-quality Team Silent stuff!

And then, finally, I played SH1. It is by far the scariest in the series. It's darker, and has a certain 'something' that the others just missed somehow.

Then came the movie in April 2006, then Homecoming, then Shattered Memories, and now here I am waiting for Silent Hill: Downpour. The wait is killing me!!!

Any other SH fans out there waiting right there with me?
